Asgatech, a BlackBerry Alliance Member, has developed an application for BlackBerry smartphone users that provides Hajj and Umrah pilgrims with a range of useful tools to enhance their pilgrimage during this holiest of religious duties.
The application is available as a free download* on BlackBerry App World, and includes:
Support for six different languages – Arabic, English, Turkish, Farsi, Urdu and Bahasa.
Narrated videos of Hajj and Umrah rituals, from the period before Ihram – the sacred state which a Muslim must enter in order to perform the Hajj or Umrah pilgrimage – until the end of the pilgrimage, with illustrations, pictures and videos.
Detailed information about al-Ihram, Miqats of Ihram – the last stop before one enters a state of pilgrimage – and guidance for Umrah.
Videos and detailed text describing the different ways to perform Hajj, along with advice for pilgrims preparing for their Hajj and Umrah journeys.
Support for GPS to help pilgrims find the most important places for Hajj and Umrah rituals, including illustrations, and the ability to save locations.
Universal search capability for content within the app.
The Hajj is the pilgrimage to Mecca, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is the largest pilgrimage in the world, and is the fifth pillar of Islam, a religious duty that must be carried out at least once in every Muslim’s lifetime by every able-bodied Muslim who can afford to do so.
The Umrah is also a pilgrimage to Mecca, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and can be undertaken by Muslims at any time of the year.
