Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) staff, their families, patients and visitors today participated in a range of healthy activities across its hospitals and facilities to mark Qatar National Sports Day 2016.
Ms. Shamma Abdulla Behair, Director of PR and Community Engagement at HMC’s Corporate Communications Department said Qatar was one of the only nations in the world to dedicate a day to sport and healthy living and as the nation’s principal public healthcare provider, HMC was proud to participate.
“At HMC we are actively working towards a healthy future for Qatar and National Sports Day demonstrates how we can all play a part in ensuring that on an individual level,” Ms. Behair said. “It was wonderful to see our staff and their families engage in these activities and work to improve their health and fitness at the same time.
“These activities and the participation of so many staff and their families demonstrate our commitment to the importance of maintaining a physically active lifestyle and support the vision and spirit of Qatar National Sport Day and we thank everyone who joined us today.”
The HMC Qatar National Sports Day Organizing Committee organized a full range of other healthy and exciting activities for patients and visitors to Al Wakra and Al Khor Hospitals and The Cuban Hospital including mini football, basketball and table tennis.
The main venue for HMC’s events was Bayt Al Dhiyafah in Hamad bin Khalifa Medical City where many people took part in activities including a 1.5km walkathon around the campus and the much anticipated mini football tournament.
Residents of HMC’s Muaither Residential Compound, their families and staff also held a series of sport-focused activities to mark this special day.
HMC also joined the Ministry of Public Health and Primary Health Care Corporation in Qatar National Sports Day events held at Aspire Park including a walkathon and other activities.
Qatar National Sports Day is organized every second Tuesday in February to encourage Qatar residents to get active and lead a healthy lifestyle.
