Jafza organises Blood Donation Drive

During the campaign

As part of its social responsibility commitments Jafza organized a three day-long blood donation drive in the Free Zone, which saw participation from employees of Economic Zones World and Jafza customers.

The initiative was held in collaboration with the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and the Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department (DNRD) and the collected blood was donated to the blood bank of the Al Wasl Hospital. A mobile centre was set up in a busy area outside the Jafza Customer Service Centre in building 14 to encourage customers to participate in the Blood Donation Drive.  

Part of the donated blood will be used to help patients suffering from Thalassemia, a genetic blood disorder which affects some 8.5 per cent (one out of 12 person is a carrier) of the people in the UAE. 

Dr. Eng. Hamad Al Hashemi, SVP, Corporate Communications, said:  “We are pleased with the campaign’s success and the response from the Jafza community. The Blood donation Drive was an excellent opportunity to engage people and bring them together for a good cause. We would like to thank our employees and our customers for their participation. One of EZW CSR objectives is to improve society welfare through direct interaction and involvement with the community. We will continue to promote health and safety awareness campaigns and all related information that will ensure the wellbeing of the community we operate in,” 

Economic Zones World has undertaken various activities in recent years incorporating CSR in Corporate Governance, Workplace, Marketplace, Environment and Community. 

EZW’s Workplace and Marketplace initiatives include the “We Care” programme, under which it organises Diabetes campaign, National Day and Eid celebrations etc. as well as CSR Awareness & Networking programmes involving employees, customers and partners. 

The free zone operator’s Environment initiatives include Paper Recycling campaigns, Planting drives while its Community initiatives include work placement and joint activities with community development organisations. 

In order to integrate these social values and commitments into the company’s overall business model, Economic Zones World has recently launched a CSR Policy manual, which outlines EZW policies and serves as a reference for all its stakeholders.
