Khalifa University organizes tomorrow (Thursday) at its Abu Dhabi campus the Healthcare Industry Career Day, which targets the University students enrolled at the biomedical engineering program and other disciplines. A number of healthcare institutions in the UAE will participate such as Al Mafraq Hospital, Mubadala Healthcare, Tawam Hospital, Rashid Hospital and Siemens. Participating organizations will showcase internship and career opportunities available to Khalifa University and the competencies and skill sets required in professionals working in this important sector.
The event also includes panel discussions conducted by speakers representing various UAE-based healthcare industry organizations. Topics of the panel discussions touched areas such as what a graduate can do with a degree in biomedical engineering, the growth of the biomedical engineering industry in the UAE and the skills and competencies the fresh graduate should have to pursue a career in the industry.
Dr. Mohammed Al Mualla, Khalifa University’s Senior Vice President for Research and Development and the Interim Provost said: “The importance of holding such events lies in the role it plays to spread awareness among students and introduce them to the many career and internship opportunities in this fast growing sector. This also motivates them to widen their knowledge, not only through the lectures, but also by conducting academic research projects supported by the University. Ultimately, we want to graduate a generation of professionals that can actively contribute to the UAE’s growth and society in general.”
