Mountain Dew Extreme Sports Tour
Mountain Dew, the exhilarating, adrenaline pumping sports drink from PepsiCo, organized yet another successful extreme sports event that attracted more than 15,000 fans in the three cities on the Saudi tour.
The Mountain Dew Extreme Sports Tour 2011 visited Abha on November 10, Riyadh on November 17 and Jeddah on November 18. This year, for the first time ever in the Middle East, the event featured performances by the Dew Tour Athletes, a team of professional extreme sports stars who thrilled spectators with their daring displays.
“This was the long awaited return of the Mountain Dew Extreme Sports Tour since it introduced to Saudi Arabia in 2008,” said Ahmed Zakaria, Flavors Marketing Manager at PepsiCo. “During the past four years, action sports have really caught on; and now attract thousands of followers in the kingdom, as well as across the GCC.
This year, to celebrate our eagerly anticipated comeback, we were especially pleased to present the Middle East debut of the Dew Tour Athletes who specialize in the BMX – Bicycle Moto X discipline, one of the most exciting forms of extreme sports requiring tremendous ability and highly professional skills.”
Other disciplines in the Mountain Dew Extreme Sports Tour included: FMX - Freestyle Moto X, which Mountain Dew first introduced to Saudi Arabia back in 2008, and Car Drifting, as well as events for Superbikes and Quad Bikes.
“In presenting the Mountain Dew Extreme Sports tours, it is our aim to give the Region’s youth every encouragement to become adventurous, self confident individuals and we are delighted to see that over the past few years young people across the GCC have responded so enthusiastically to the challenges of action sports activities,” concluded Zakaria.
The Saudi tour’s success carried over to the Dew Arabia Facebook page where fans shared their out take of the excitement and enjoyment they experienced during the three Saudi events.
With the tour of Saudi Arabia now concluded, the Mountain Dew Extreme Sports Tour 2011 next moves on to Oman where it will appear in Muscat at the Al Araimi Complex Parking venue on December 1, and then wraps-up in Abu Dhabi on December 23.
