The National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) takes part in Tawdheef Career Fair which is being held in Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from 3rd to 5th February, 2014 as part of its Emiratisation drive to attract and develop the skills of UAE nationals.
“Emiratisation is a top priority in UAE,” said Ehab Hassan, Senior Managing Director & Group Chief Human Resources Officer at NBAD. “Tawdheef offers exclusive access to pool of talented UAE nationals from different fields with skills most sought after by employers and our participation in this career fair in line with government's efforts to strengthen UAE National workforce.
“This year, we plan to recruit over 100 UAE nationals,” he added.
During the career fair, NBAD will offer onsite interviews to the candidates. It will also bring representatives from different divisions to give insight into division and career opportunities.
“NBAD offers numerous training and career opportunities for fresh graduates and experienced professionals who are interested in building successful career at the UAE's leading financial institute,” said Amani Al Khaledi, the Head of Emiratisation at NBAD. “Through Tawdheef, we will promote these opportunities as well as Emiratisation programmes which are aimed to hire, develop and retain high potentials.”
NBAD has launched several initiatives to develop and maximise the potentials of UAE nationals in different stages. For instance, under the AFAQ Management trainee Programme, NBAD sponsors a Master’s degree in Finance by recruiting fresh university graduates who exhibit great motivation and the potential to grow into future leaders.
The recruits complete post graduate certificate which is equivalent to half of the Master's requirement in the first year by studying fulltime at the academy. During this period, they receive full employment salary. After the first year, AFAQ recruits are assigned to their permanent position. While they work fulltime, they continue studying part-time toward the completion of the Master's Degree.
The Bank also offers UAE national staff Al Sadara program where they can study for a Masters in International Business and gain work experience simultaneously.
In addition, NBAD offers high school graduates the chance to pursue a career path at branches or departments while offering to them excellent training at NBAD Academy through enrolling them to Al Bedaya programme. Successfully completing 12 months, Al- Bedaya program trainees will gain associate degree in banking and finance.
In 2011, NBAD launched Tomouh to sponsor young UAE nationals who demonstrate exceptional academic achievements to pursue bachelor degrees at prestigious international universities. The Bank also sponsors enrolled university students by paying a monthly allowance through Mustaqbali programme. The UAE nationals in these programmes are guaranteed internship and recruitment upon graduation.
“Our Emiratisation initiatives are designed to equip youth with the knowledge and develop their skills to meet the market demand for qualified Emiratis,” explained Ms. Amani Al Khaledi.
In recognition of its achievements, NBAD has won a number of awards and accolades for its Emiratization programs. The Bank has won the Human Resources Development Award in Banking Sector in 2004 and 2009; and Michael H. Tomalin, NBAD’s former Group Chief Executive, has won the Best Emiratisation CEO Award from Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial Studies (EIBFS) in 2010 and 2012.
