Dubai Customs has revealed its newly revamped website (www.dubaicustoms.gov.ae) in accordance with the integrated service delivery requirements of Dubai Smart Government (DSG) and international best practices.
The launch, which marks Dubai Customs’ ongoing smart transformation towards excellence in the provision of public services, came as part of the organization’s participation at this year’s GITEX under the forward-looking motto “We innovate … to facilitate trade”.
The upgrading of the DC website was aimed to ensure more accessibility and user-friendliness for customers and browsers, including users with special needs. The new website has a unique, simple yet responsive design that further promotes the corporate identity of Dubai Customs and enhances its technology position as a full-fledged smart government department.
Juma AL Ghaith, executive director of Customs Development Division said: “The electronic bonding between the Department and its clients has proven to be the best means of exchange of information as per empirical observation. Such technique proved to be time and cost saving and in accordance with the goal of Dubai Government strategy in bringing happiness to clients. Our new-look web portal has been developed in conformity with Dubai m-Government standards and based on the feedback received from the clients and the public who were engaged through opinion surveys to find out their remarks, needs and exceptions vis-à-vis the website and the services being provided online.”
The chief officer of Customs Development Division also noted that the new website is an easily accessible, user friendly and fully integrated platform encompassing all customs’ smart services, procedures and activities, all of which gives Dubai Customs advantage in terms of operational efficiency.”
Khalil Saqer bin Gharib, director of Corporate Communications, explained that “The Corporate Communications Department works in harmony with all DC entities in order to develop and elevate the quality of service delivered to clients both locally and internationally. The fresh website provides for better communication with our clients, partners and the community. It also ensures uninterrupted flow of information generated at Dubai Customs with highest levels of transparency and credibility. As a reliable source of information, the new website serves decision makers, economic experts as well as local and global media by making available detailed statistical data of Dubai’s trade with the world and other key statistics.”
The new website particularly provides new video content library covering DC’s events and activities. It also presents clients with real-time interactive tools for feedback and evaluation of services. Furthermore, users can be instantly redirected to the DC’s platforms on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
The general look and feel of the Dubai Customs’ official webpage has undergone major revamping, which also applies for the technical aspects in terms of providing a much more faster browsing experience via personal computers or smart phones. It also enables users, be they individuals, businesses or travellers, to download and print DC’s reports, booklets, brochures and publications anywhere and anytime.
The new website assures that all users have equal access to information and functionality, including the deaf and colour-blind. It is empowered by screen reading features in both Arabic and English as well as a font resizing feature for people with low vision.
