Greg Bergida, the new Director of Student Affairs, Northwestern University in Qatar
Northwestern University in Qatar (NU-Q) has named Greg Bergida as director of Student Affairs, effective January 1.
In his new position, Bergida is responsible for syncing the NU-Q student experience outside of the classroom –from study abroad to career management to clubs and organizations—with the media school’s academic curriculum.
"Greg Bergida has the right background and experience to continue the trajectory of our Student Affairs program at NU-Q, especially calibrating our efforts in a media-centric school to enhance student life and student academic affairs. We are eager that our student affairs program support the academic mission and offer something truly distinctive for those who study here,” said NU-Q dean and CEOEverette E. Dennis in announcing the appointment.
Bergida formerly served as director of the Office of Student Life at Fordham University’s Graduate School of Business in New York City and, prior to that, manager of the customer marketing group Direct Brands, Inc. His experience with student academic affairs and background in management and media “will inject new energy into our larger efforts to secure top-level placements for our students in the 21st century media industry,”said Dean Dennis, who also noted that the appointment is particularly timely as NU-Q prepares to graduate its first class of journalism and communication students this spring.
As part of his first projects as director of Student Affairs, Bergida will be working on residency programs for the school’s journalism students and a student service learning trip to Morocco in March. He has also been tasked with strengthening Student Affairs’ relationships with academic programs and the NU-Q departments of business & finance, admissions, marketing/communications and IT.
