During a press conference held at the company’s headquarter in Kuwait City, Ooredoo Kuwait, a member of the international Ooredoo Group, has announced its Ramadan activities calendar. The events include internal initiatives targeting Ooredoo’s staff members, and external initiatives targeting different society segments. This year will witness the second edition of Ooredoo’s successful volunteer program. Volunteers will be the main force in planning and executing a number of events running simultaneously across Kuwait, focusing on volunteerism.
The re-launch of Ooredoo Volunteer Program comes as a result of the great success achieved upon the official launch of the program last year. This program was launched in cooperation with Spread the Passion, a local non-profit organization which aims at encouraging youth to be more engaged in voluntarily programs. The accompanying training program will continue for a whole month and will include workshops, training camp, and will be concluded with official certification. Training program follows international standards, supervised by Spread the Passion.
During the press conference, Ooreodo Kuwait’s Corporate Communications director Mijbil Alayoub said: “We at Ooredoo are eager to actively participate in activities that enrich our society. We’re happy to have a number of key initiatives running throughout he holy month of Ramadan. We’re also happy to announce that there will be a special promotion for our valued customers during the month of Ramadan. We’re also working on a very unique television commercial, and we hope that it is well-received by our audience.”
Ooredoo CSR and Sponsorship Specialist Sarah Al-Qabandi said: “We’re proud to be partnering with Spread the Passion for the second consecutive year. Last year’s success was outstanding. The initiative diverged into many other programs that enabled the trainees to participate, which is our aim from the start. This year, we’ll be delivering meals for those in need in more than one location, and not just in our Ramadan tent.”
Representing Spread the Passion, Dr Fatemah Al-Moussawi said: “we’re happy to be working of the second consecutive year with Ooredoo, and are proud to see Kuwaiti private sector corporates take in a more proactive role in supporting volunteers. The training program will include intensive training in a variety of subjects focused and of relevance to the field of volunteerism. We’re very happy to be supporting youth, especially those who are looking for opportunities to volunteer. There is nothing more precious that volunteering your time and effort for a cause that you believe in, and that is the main drive behind what we do.”
Ooredoo will also be sponsoring ATAHUB initiative that aims to raise the community awareness, collaboration and engagement in initiatives that have a positive return on the society and its needs. In addition to Jaribha initiative, which is an online platform based on the concept of "reward crowd-funding", where business creators can achieve their project goals through the support of people in return for rewards.
Also, Ooredoo took the responsibility to conduct several charitable events, such as giving out meals daily throughout the month of Ramadan at Ooredoo’s Iftar tent located in Al Soor street, Kuwait City, opposite to the company’s headquarter. As well as organizing visits to nursing home, orphanages and patients at different hospitals across Kuwait.
Internally, employees will celebrate a ghaqa, which is a Kuwaiti tradition where people gather in the evening over a meal to socialise. The aim of this event is to strengthen the bond between employees away from the demanding nature of the workplace.
