RAK Ceramics receiving the award
RAK Ceramics, the world's largest ceramic tiles & sanitaryware manufacturing company, has announced that the Environment Protection and Development Authority (EPDA-RAK) has awarded it a certification for its outstanding performance in complying with the environmental regulations and requirements. RAK Ceramics received the certificate during a special ceremony held at Acacia Hotel, Ras Al Khaimah on 26th April 2012.
Environment Protection and Development Authority (EPDA-RAK) is aimed at protecting the environment and biological diversity in its natural environment, offering suggestions, making recommendations and conducting studies and research to conserve the environment and protect biological diversity.
Earlier this year, RAK Ceramics had signed a contract with Environment Protection and Development Authority (EPDA-RAK) for the mutual cooperation between RAK Ceramics and EPDA in protecting and preserving the environment. According to the agreement, EPDA will provide services and technical training for the environmental issues to RAK Ceramics, and in return RAK Ceramics HSSE department will provide health, safety, security and environmental training to RAK EPDA employees.

Recently RAK Ceramics participated in Emirates Road Clean-up campaign organized by EPDA, where the desert areas surrounding Emirates Road was chosen to be cleaned. RAK Ceramics was one of the sponsors for the event with around 150 RAK Ceramics employees participating in it.
RAK Ceramics is also awarded the Environmental Performance Certificate (EPC) by the UAE Ministry of Environment and Water (MOEW), in recognition of its successful efforts to comply with environmental protection standards and regulations.
