Ski Dubai, the region’s premier indoor ski resort, nestled in alpine inspired slopes and enveloped in sub-zero temperatures, has announced that it will be holding a ‘Board-Fest’ on Thursday 28th March 2013 from 19:00 – 24:00. The Board-Fest will celebrate those enthusiasts who enjoy the rush of having mastered the art of riding a board to perform flips, turns, and aerial jumps, be it on snow or on the ground.
Professional snowboarders and skateboarders will use Ski Dubai as a platform to showcase their talents and demonstrate the stunts which have made these two sports a staple part of urban culture world over. For the first time, Ski Dubai’s entrance and foyer will be converted into a demonstration area with customized ramps for the skateboarders who are all set to captivate guests with their technical skills and super- charged techniques. Additionally, Xboxes will be strategically set up across the premises so guests can also experience a virtual adrenaline rush.
Guests have the option to view the sporty routines or actively participate in the snowboarding and skateboarding events to compete for a chance to be one of the “King of the Boards” where the best skateboarder and snowboarder will get a grand prize of 2 months Ski Dubai Crystal membership, entitling them to maximum discounts across all features and free slope access. Additional on-the-spot prizes will also be awarded to guests, including snowboards, professional snow jackets, T-shirts, skateboarding decks and much more. Ski Dubai’s resident DJ will also be spinning the latest hits to add to the exhilarating atmosphere.
“Ski Dubai has a strong affinity with urban culture and all things adrenaline charged, and we are pleased to be able to provide a platform for young board lovers to showcase their talents. There is a natural link between snowboarding and skateboarding and the Board-Fest will allow our guests to experience the best of both worlds,” commented Mr. Omar El Banna, Marketing and Sales director, Majid Al Futtaim Leisure & Entertainment.
No prior registration is required and guests can skateboard for free while snowboarders can participate via a regular slope pass. Spectators are welcome to attend the event from the Avalanche Café, nestled at the peak of Ski Dubai’s black Diamond run where they will also receive a complimentary hot chocolate with the purchase of a “Fly Ski Dubai” entry pass at AED 80/-.
Sponsored by RAGE, the leading retailer for action sports apparel, the event will take place from 19:00 – 24:00 Thursday, 28th March 2013 at Ski Dubai and is open to the public.
