Tamkeen announces that more than 4,200 beneficiaries have benefited from its “Conference Attendance Support” scheme as of the end of July 2013, with total support amount from Tamkeen reaching nearly BD1.1 million.
Launched in June 2012 as part of Tamkeen’s efforts to help Bahrainis develop and enhance their skills, the scheme enables Bahrainis to attend conferences, seminars, workshops, and similar short-term events to acquire high-level knowledge and apply international best practices related to their field from internationally renowned speakers and trainers.
The beneficiaries of the scheme attended more than 50 events under this scheme representing a wide range of topics and sectors.
Tamkeen’s Acting Vice-President for Human Capital Development Mrs. Amal Al-Kooheji, commented on the announcement: “The Conference Attendance Support Scheme reinforces the culture of continuous learning and self-improvement among Bahrainis, an important competitive advantage in today’s dynamic market environment.”
To date, Tamkeen has partnered with 42 local service providers through the scheme.
Chief Executive of Origin Group, Mr. Ahmed Al-Banna, one of the scheme’s service providers, said, “The Conference Attendance Support Scheme has supported event managers because it provides much needed support for delegates and ultimately supports our ability to bring quality speakers to Bahrain.”
CEO of Gulf Future Business, Mr. Ahmed Al-Hujairy, another service provider under the scheme, stated, “We have witnessed an increase in the interest and participation of Bahraini delegates when the option of benefiting from the Conference Attendance Support Scheme is available. The scheme has helped attract well-known and respected speakers who are drawn by the knowledge appreciation culture that we have here in Bahrain.”
29% of the scheme’s beneficiaries attended management-related events, followed by self-development at 17%, Banking and Finance at 10%, Human Resources at 9%, and 6% for both entrepreneurship and ICT events.
Any Bahraini 18 of age or above is eligible to benefit from this scheme, whether they are a higher education student, private sector employee, business owner or job seeker.All upcoming events supported by the scheme and related information is by available on Tamkeen’s website (www.tamkeen.bh) under the programmes for individuals section.
More than 98,000 Bahrainis and businesses have benefited from Tamkeen’s programmes to date.
