Tamkeen announced today its support for the Microsoft Imagine Cup 2015 for the Bahrain national competition as well as the Pan Arab Finals round to be held in Bahrain between May 31st and June 3rd. The partnership agreement was officiated by Tamkeen’s Chairman and Acting Chief Executive Shaikh Mohammed bin Essa Al Khalifa and Microsoft’s Country General Manager in Bahrain and Oman Sherif Tawfik, in the presence of senior executives from both organizations.
Microsoft Imagine Cup, a cornerstone of the Microsoft YouthSpark initiative, is the World’s premier student technology program and competition targeting students between the ages of 16 and 24 years old from all academic backgrounds.
Commenting on this announcement, Shaikh Mohammed bin Essa said that this partnership is in line with Tamkeen’s aim to support innovation and entrepreneurship, and promote Bahrain regionally and internationally as a hub for creative and innovative SMEs and young entrepreneurs.
“We are excited to renew our partnership in this global students’ competition and host the Pan Arab Finals in Bahrain. Through the years, Imagine Cup had become a national quest for Bahraini talents, and our youth have succeeded to surprise us and make us proud year after year,” Shaikh Mohammed bin Essa commented.
Shaikh Mohammed bin Essa also thanked Microsoft for bringing the Pan Arab Finals to Bahrain and encouraged all students to participate in this season not only to bring the Pan Arab – and World’s - cup home but also to benefit from this unique experience and all the knowledge it provides.
All students aged between 16 and 24 years old are invited to participate in the Imagine Cup 2015 and benefit from the opportunity to expand their technical capabilities as well as develop their soft skills. The National winning teams will represent Bahrain in the Imagine Cup 2015 Pan Arab Finals taking place in Manama, Bahrain between 31 May and 3 June 2015.
“We are thrilled to have Tamkeen as a partner for this special season of Imagine Cup in Bahrain; for the last few years Tamkeen’s engagement and support have helped increase the awareness of Imagine Cup encouraging more students to think out of the box, innovate and participate,” said Sherif Tawfik. “Through Imagine Cup, we aim to inspire student developers to create innovative solutions that change the way we live, work and play while growing the skills they need to pursue a future in technology. We urge all students from the different universities in Bahrain to register, form teams, dream big and work hard to create fantastic new technology projects.”
