The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has announced plans to host a series of eCommerce workshops entitled ‘eBiz SOS 2014’ starting from April 20th, 2014 and running through to November 23, 2014 three workshops over this period. The workshops will take place at the TRA’s office in Dubai and will gather key industry stakeholders from the entire UAE eCommerce sector. Participants will discuss how best eBusiness entrepreneurs can utilize the facilities available to them in the UAE as well as what government can do to support business start-ups enter the eCommerce market.
“The TRA is fully committed to the development of electronic transaction and commerce in the UAE as well as encouraging competitiveness and growth within the sector. One of our responsibilities at TRA is to safeguard the nation’s ICT infrastructure and supply support to a system that is favourable to investment and complementary to online business transactions. Rolling out these workshops will help ensure that the entire UAE ecommerce ecosystem is best placed to take advantage of the nation’s secure and reliable networks and identify ways to contribute to the development of the UAE digital economy,” said H.E. Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, TRA Director General.
“Recent statistics indicate that GCC e-commerce sales are estimated to grow to almost $15 billion by 2015 and the UAE is leading this progressive trend. Evidently, e-commerce has a huge bearing on driving economic development and any effort that seeks to enhance both public and private sector e-commerce strategies is one of national importance. We are currently pursuing a range of policies that will encourage local SME’s to derive their business online and support people wanting to launch their own eCommerce store in the UAE,” he added.
“eBiz SOS” will be the first of a series of workshops that the TRA will host to promote the development of electronic transaction and commerce in the UAE. It aims to encourage the competitiveness and growth of eCommerce by addressing vital actions to unlock the full potential of electronic transaction and commerce in the country, as well as overcoming existing barriers and improving consumer confidence in the digital economy.
The hosted workshop gathered more than 80 delegates representing electronic businesses and commerce founders & owners, entrepreneurs, eMarketers, eService’s Director and government representatives. Representative from the TRA, Mena Commerce, Baizat.com, Jafza presented and shared valuable statics and info graphs, information and success stories to the attendees.
