Qatari exports to France double over 2000
Official statistics reveal that the value of exchanges between Qatar and France equaled 1.8 billion Qatar riyals ($494 million) in the year 2000, according to Al-Dustour daily.
French exports to the Qatari markets reached QR 1.1 billion in 2000, while Qatari exports to France doubled from QR 320 million in 1999 to QR 684 million in 2000.
A major source for this capital is French military-related sales to Qatar. The two countries have been linked by a defense pact since 1994. France currently supplies around 80 percent of this Gulf country’s military equipment for its 10,000-soldier armed forces. ― (MENA Report)
