Rezidor takes over resorts in Lebanon and UAE
Rezidor, the parent company of Radisson Hotels & Resorts will add five new properties to its expanding Middle East portfolio by January 2003. Three of the new hotels are located in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Lebanon and Saudi Arabia, and are owned by the Al-Hassawi Group.
The hotel in Sharjah was formerly known as the Holiday Inn Resort and will now be branded Radisson Resort Sharjah. The hotel has 301 guest rooms and is situated on the beach and close to Sharjah's business district. Extensive renovation of the property has already commenced which will bring it up to present market demands.
In Beirut, Radisson will be assuming management of the Martinez Hotel, which only opened two years ago and was previously also known as Holiday Inn Martinez. It has 185 guestrooms and is located in Ain El-Meraiseh.
The Al-Hayat hotel in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia, with 183 guest rooms will fly the Radisson flag in November. Located on the Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia, the hotel has been totally renovated.
Following the take-over of these three hotels, the total number of Radisson hotels in the Middle East will be twelve. This will include the opening, in two weeks time, of the Radisson Taba Resort in Egypt, and the introduction of resorts in Egypt's Hurghada and Al Quseir shortly.
Radisson Hotels & Resorts currently operates six Middle East hotels in Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Egypt. A number of new projects in the pipeline will bring the total number to around 25 by the year 2005. — (menareport.com)
