Samsung Galaxy S5 sees the light in Saudi Arabia
Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. announced on Thursday the launch of the new Galaxy S5 smartphone at Laylati Ballroom in Jeddah.
The company said the launch “exemplified once more its commitment to people-inspired innovation, offering the features that matter most to consumers”.
The new Galaxy S5 joins Samsung’s Gear Fit and Gear 2 Neo “which are designed to take the freedom, convenience and style of wearable technology to the next level”.
“The launch proved Samsung’s commitment to focus on innovating, practical and fundamental everyday features with a great camera, the fastest network, dedicated fitness tools and built-in safety and security enhancements to protect consumers. The Galaxy S5 is designed for what matters most to consumers,” the company said in a statement.
In 2013, the company said, the smartphones market imported nearly 1 billion units achieving this great number with Samsung Electronics being number one in the Saudi market.
It said that 60 percent of consumers chose to purchase smartphones and that the Galaxy S series played a major role in the smartphones market share since 2010, the year it was launched.
Global sales of the Galaxy S series totaled 200,000,000 units since its introduction. To keep the leading position, Samsung Electronics focused on “people-inspired innovation”.

The Galaxy S5 combines an advanced camera, fast Wi-Fi network connectivity, dedicated and fitness tools and an enhanced device protection features as consumers stay fit and connected in style, the company said.
“The Galaxy S5 captures the moments that matter. Capturing and saving precious memories is one of the most important smartphone features today. The new Galaxy S5 offers superior camera functionality, featuring a 16 megapixel camera with an enhanced menu and user interface that allow consumers to effortlessly take, edit and share photos.
“It offers the world’s fastest autofocus speed up to 0.3 seconds and the advanced High Dynamic Range (HDR), which reproduces natural light and color with striking intensity in all circumstances.”
Samsung said the new selective-focus feature allows users to focus on a specific area of an object while simultaneously blurring out the background. With this capability, consumers no longer need a special lens kit to create a shallow depth of field (DOF) effect.
