Saudi ART targets audience of 500,000
The chairman of the board of the Arab Radio and Television (ART), Saleh Kamel, has stated that the ART television network will soon have an audience of 500,000 from the Middle East and the rest of the world, reported the Al-Hayat.
The Saudi-based network has recently undergone a major restructuring process, which increased the number of channels it offers from 15 to 45. Kamel added, that the receiver systems used by ART would offer more channels at monthly costs of under $50.
ART offers a variety of channels, producing over 1200 hours of television yearly. It includes a 24-hour general channel, which screens a wide range of shows around the clock, from popular Arabic comedies to cultural Islamic shows. In addition, a sports channel, also broadcasting 24 hours a day, features both international and regional sports events. Additional channels include one for children, movies, channels designated for Arab audiences across the globe — America, Australia, Europe and even a Latino channel.
The main target of this television company is the Arab population scattered worldwide, bringing its audience a taste of home anywhere. It strives to reach a large international audience, while dealing with specific issues of particular concern to Arabs and Moslems in all regions of the world. — (Albawaba-MEBG)
