Saudi network capacity at 2.1 million by year-end
The Saudi Telecommunication Company recently reported that the number of Internet subscribers in the kingdom presently stands at 400,000, reported Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper. The potential capacity of the local Internet network is estimated to reach 2.1 million lines by the end of 2001.
The deputy chairman of the board of the Saudi Etisalat Company, Fahd Fawaz, stated that his company has recently improved the capabilities of its local Internet network and related telecommunication infrastructures. These developments will enable local Internet users to easily access the network and execute e-commerce transactions. — (MENA Report)
