Siemens wins $19.3 million contract in Oman
The German Siemens company was recently awarded a €23 million ($19.3 million) contract to expand the GSM mobile telephone network in the Sultanate of Oman. According to Al Hayat> daily, the districts of Dhahira, Dakhiliya, Sharqiya and Dhufar will be included in this recents move to expand the country’s mobile network.
The contract was signed within the framework of a prior strategic long-term partnership agreement between Siemens and the Omani Telephone Company (Omantel). Siemens has committed to provide and install the latest technologies to establish the GSM infrastructure of the Sultanate.
This contract is not the first agreement between Seimens and Oman. Previously, the Oman Fiber Optic Company supplied Siemens with fiber optic cables. Oman is one of the 190 countries with which the German company presently holds contracts. — (MENA Report)
