Sonatrach to issue tender for gas fields development
Sonatrach, Algeria’s state-owned oil and gas company, intends issuing an international tender for the development of the Tinhert gas fields in the southeast of the country, following the suspension of negotiations with Petro-Canada of Calgary over the development of the fields, reported the Oil and Gas Journal.
Sonatrach said the international tender is part of its new policy to award future blocks only through a tender process.
Confirming that talks with Sonatrach regarding development of the gas fields were suspended after two years of negotiations, a Petro-Canada said that the company was re-evaluating its options in Algeria and elsewhere in North Africa.
Petro-Canada produced 4,500 barrels per day of oil from Algeria’s Tamadenet field in 1999, before deduction the state’s share from the project. – (Albawaba-MEBG)
