Tunisian technology parks rated among the world’s 50 best
Tunisia’s high tech sector was complimented recently by Wired, the American monthly magazine on Internet matters, which in its most recent edition studied technological parks around the world.
The magazine classified the technological parks according to a number of criteria, including institutions of higher education and scientific search which house these parks, companies operating in the fields of information technologies, start-ups and the sources of financing.
Of all the various countries studied, Tunisia was the only listed that is both Arab and African. South Africa was the only other African nation mentioned.
Tunisia’s most famous industrial park is called City. It shelters a number of companies operating in the field of production and development. New companies are waiting for the completion of second and third sections of this project, which are expected to ready during 2001. When that happens, it will be possible to accommodate more than 1,000 engineers and high-level technicians in information technologies.
