Turnover of Moroccan call centers hits Euro 85 million per year
Moroccan call centers boast a turnover of Euro 85 million per year, the French daily Le Figaro Economie reported. Advisor to the Moroccan King, André Azoulay, has recently said that 85% of this turnover is generated through activities with France and Spain. 80% of these centers are concentrated in Casablanca-Rabat region.
Currently, there are about 100 call centers in Morocco, which provide some 10,000 job opportunities, added the daily.
The French Annuaire Universel is the latest arrival to the Moroccan market, competing with France Télécom.
Annuaire Universel and its partner "Transcom", which is a subsidiary of the Swedish group "Kinnevik", run some 40 call centers throughout the world wishes to show that "the kingdom enjoys all potentials to host call centers in several languages", said the daily.
Guy Birenbaum, Creator of Annuaire Universel, said "it is not a question of relocation, but of externalisation. We create jobs in Morocco that do not exist in France."
To encourage international call centers to settle in the kingdom, Morocco’s phone company “Maroc Telecom” announced last month a 13% cut in its tariffs for international phone lines leased to call centers, starting on June 1st. Morocco expects to attract 50% of French outsourcing in this field.
