Minister of Public Works and Roads Omar Abdullah al-Kurshumi has said that the World Bank approved US$ 90 million to finance a number of projects in the roads sector in Yemen.
In a statement to Saba on Saturday, al- Kurshumi described Yemen’s talks with the World Bank’s mission held recently in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, as successful.
The minister pointed out that the amount is allocated for the maintenance of 2500 km of the main roads in the country, which will be implemented by the Road Maintenance Fund.
The talks dealt with measures to accelerate the implementation of projects financed by the World Bank and allocated to rural road projects, the minister added.
He noted that, during the talks, the Bank agreed to provide technical assistance to the Ministry of Public Works and Roads and its affiliates ,which is represented in raising the skills of cadres of the ministry and providing institutional support in addition to installing a telecom network linking the ministry to its branches in the provinces.
