Yemen’s GDP grew by 4.7 percent in 2000
The Yemeni Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Treasury, Alawi Salami, stated that the local GDP grew by 4.7 percent in 2000, reported Al-Hayat. The Minister predicts the national economy to grow by 5.3 percent in 2002 with the value of the country’s GDP predicted at YR 1,660 billion ($9.8 billion) by the end of 2002. The Minister anticipates a 9.5 percent rise in the construction sector in 2002, a six percent rise in agriculture and 6.2 percent rise in the public sector. — (menareport.com)
