Cairo International Film Festival Opens, UAE celebrates National Day

34th Cairo International Film Festival opens
The 34th Cairo International Film Festival opened on Tuesday, with the theme "Egypt in the Eyes of the World's Cinemas."
At the opening ceremony held Tuesday evening at Cairo Opera House, a number of international and regional film stars from all over the world attended the red carpet ceremony.
Egyptian Culture Minister, Farouq Hosni, inaugurated the opening ceremony and awarded trophies to five international and Egyptian film stars for their lifetime achievement, including American actor Richard Gere, French actress Juliette Binoche and South Korean Actress Yun Jung-Hee.
Created in 1976, the festival was the first international film festival in the Middle East.
According to the organizing committee, 43 films out of 150 movies from 70 countries and regions, including 11 movies from seven Arab states, will take part in the competition sections of the event.

On its 39th National Day: UAE achieves prosperity for nation and citizens
On 2nd December, the United Arab Emirates, celebrates its 39th National Day while continuing confidently on its way to achieve more prosperity for the homeland and its citizens.
Over the last few years, radical changes have been recorded in a wide range of sectors, including political life, the economy and social services, within the framework on a vision of change that seeks to make the best possible use of all resources, including human resources, to achieve sustainable development.
On this occasion, H.H. President Shaikh Khalifa, in a statement, has noted that the achievements of the government over the last four years are both the result of the adoption of a comprehensive strategy for development, drawn up in accordance with a clear vision for the future and on the basis of detailed planning, and of the spirit of perseverance with which that strategy has been implemented.
