CDA celebrates 39th UAE National Day

Community Development Authority (CDA) in Dubai celebrated the 39th anniversary of the UAE National Day with several activities held at the InterContinental Festival City, Dubai.

His Excellency Mr Khaled Al Kamda, Director General of CDA, CEOs, employees and their families, elder people from Istirahat Al Showab, the community centre for the elderly, which is part of CDA, and members of the media were present at the event.

"We congratulate HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and Their Highnesses, the Members of the Supreme Council, on the occasion of the UAE National Day and thank them for their vision and guidance," said Mr Al Kamda.

He stressed the importance of UAE Vision 2021, aimed at positioning the nation among the best in the world. "As a government department focused on social development, we are committed to highlighting initiatives that promote loyalty and good practices for UAE nationals and expatriates."

Guests at the ceremony were welcomed by young children dressed in the national dress and a traditional band which performed national songs. The celebrations included activities focused on the UAE's heritage and rich history, cultural competitions on the UAE and Union Day, traditional dances, talent competition for CDA's staff in the fields of photography, writing, poetry and drawing, and the "Union Memories" activity participated by prominent poets and writers.

The celebrations also included a henna tent, Arabic perfumes, hospitality services and paintings by a Canadian artist. Emirates Fine Art Society in Sharjah presented 25 images and paintings of the UAE culture. Mr Al Kamda honored all the participants.

Community Development Authority

​​​The Community Development Authority (CDA) was founded by a decree of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai in July 2008. CDA is responsible for setting up and developing a framework for social development, and aims to achieve the goals outlined in the Dubai Strategic Plans.
