In an attempt to prevent the possible spread of the rising Ebola virus into Lebanon, the country's Labor Ministry said work permits from Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia will be halted, and symptom examinations will be conducted at the Beirut airport upon passenger arrival.

Ibrahim al-Hajj, also known as Abou Mohammed Salman, was a high-ranking Hezbollah official that was killed on Monday during a battle with Syrian opposition militants in Syria´s al-Qalamoun region.

The death toll in Gaza has passed over 1000, (77% are civilians, 33% are under age 18).  Up to 120,000 people (of approximately 1.8 million) have been displaced.
