A FEMALE pimp convicted of drugging four Russian women and forcing them to work as prostitutes in a brothel had her 10-year jail term upheld on appeal.
The 36-year-old lured them to Bahrain with the promise of jobs, but assaulted them, held them captive in a Hoora apartment and forced them to have sex with strangers for money.
The victims, aged between 19 and 23, escaped after overpowering their captor despite going 24 hours without food or water. They went to police, who arrested the woman.
She was convicted of human trafficking, assault, holding the women against their will, prostitution and living in Bahrain illegally by the High Criminal Court on June 12.
The defendant was also fined BD5,000 and will be deported after completing her sentence.
She then lodged an appeal against her conviction at the Supreme Criminal Appeals Court, which upheld the initial verdict yesterday.
One of the pimp's victims previously told prosecutors she was promised a sales job.
However, the 20-year-old said her coffee was spiked with drugs before she boarded a plane to Bahrain and the first thing she remembered was waking up locked in a Hoora apartment last October with three other victims.
The pimp told her she would have sex with five men every day for BD50 each.
She later locked herself in a toilet, but the defendant managed to get her out and allegedly assaulted her twice.
The three other victims said they were forced to have sex with a total of seven men before they escaped.
