Egyptian teen wedding followed by video game reception?
The Three Ages of Marriage:
Twenty is when you watch the TV after...
Forty is when you watch the TV during...
Sixty is when you watch the TV instead...
Thirteen is when you watch each other level up on Xbox?
In a recent article by Arabian Business, the father of an Egyptian 13 year-old claims, “You are never too young to be married”.
He's definitely practising what he's preaching...he recently wedded his 13 year-old son to a ten year-old girl.
“We saw that Shams was fond of Iman, so it all worked out, Allah be praised. You are never too young to be married. We could have just told him to marry his cousin, and he would have. He would have had no say in it. The important thing is to get married. Love will come later,” he added.
According to the bride and groom, they are happy to be married to each other and look forward to a positive continued relationship between their families.
The outlook on this Egyptian wedding is not the standard for many young people in the Middle Eastern Region. Countering the wedded teenage bliss are realistic views from the new Egyptian television series "Al-Qasirat" (Minors).
