Hell no, we won't go: Israeli youth refuse military service
A group of Israeli teenagers recently wrote Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a letter informing him that they will not serve in the military, reports AFP.
"The main reason for our refusal is our opposition to the occupation of the Palestinian territories by the army,” says the letter.
Military service in Israel is mandatory for men and women.
“Any military service perpetuates the current situation, and therefore we cannot take part in a system that carries out these deeds,” says the group.
Yesh Gvul defines itself as “a peace group campaigning against the occupation by backing soldiers who refuse duties of a repressive or aggressive nature.”
