Mrs. Mubarak screams at prison officials
The former Egyptian president, Hosny Mubarak, who is now serving a life sentence at a prison hospital is in danger of suffering a stroke at any minute or slipping into a coma.
He has been reportedly slipping in and out of consciousness over the last 6 days and his situation is critical.
His wife and two daughters in law were given special permission to visit him in Torah prison in Cairo early Sunday morning after speculation of his near death and critical situation.
A medical team treating Mubarak in Tora prison hospital said in a report that the 84-year-old former leader was in danger of a stroke due to his irregular heartbeat.
According to security officials quoted by al-Masry al-Youm daily, Mrs. Mubarak lashed out at wardens for not giving her husband permission to seek treatment outside the prison. "You will be responsible for his death," she allegedly said.
Mubarak, who ruled Egypt from 1981 until a popular uprising deposed him in February 2011, was sentenced to life imprisonment last week on charges of involvement in the deaths of protesters during the revolt.
