Saudi no nonsense nurse battles gender roles to save lives

I think that I may speak for all nurses everywhere in commending the actions of Saudi nurse Salwa Juma Al Khobair, in coming to the assistance of this young man.

This is why we train and educate men and women to become nurses, so that they may skilfully and compassionately assist and serve their communities and their fellow citizens, regardless of colour, class, gender or creed. This is nursing's gift to humanity and this nurse's family, colleagues, countrymen and countrywomen and indeed all of Saudi Arabia can be hugely proud of her.

I offer her my very best wishes and also wish the young man concerned a speedy recovery.
