A popular Iranian singer will be allowed to perform in Tehran for the first time ever, AFP reports.
Xaniar Khosravi announced to excited fans on Facebook that he would play a concert in Tehran on April 24. Khosravi’s pop music has previously only been available underground, according to AFP.
The concert quickly sold out. “I am happy to see you all,” the singer said to those who purchased tickets via his Facebook page.
Under Iran’s Islamic sharia law, musicians and concerts must be approved by the culture ministry. If a musician’s lyrics are not in line with Iran’s values, the musician is prohibited from performing publicly.
