Tally-ho! UAE to open first hunting resort in September
The United Arab Emirates will be offering a new attraction for its tourists as it opens its first hunting resort next September.
The ‘Barari Hunting Resort’ which will open near Al-Ain, the second largest city in the capital Abu Dhabi, will offer visitors the chance to “hunt oryx, gazelle and deer,” reported the UAE-based newspaper, The National.
The resort is owned by the Abu-Dhabi based Mourouj Hotels and Resorts and can possibly feature bird hunting too.
“It will be prearranged hunting in coordination with the UAE Environment [Agency] and it will of course take into account safety and security,” said Tarek Elsherif, the managing director of Mourouj Hotels and Resorts.
“It's going to be a very boutique hotel,” Elsherif said, adding that the resort will be open on a “seasonal basis, from September to about April.”
The cost of spending one-night in the resort can cost more than AED 10,000 (US$3,673), including a hunting trip and the guns to be used, the newspaper said.
“It's going to be an exclusive resort for people looking to hunt, so it is not going to be like a family resort,” said Elsherif.
“The idea will be that people will come to spend a few days hunting. We will be cooking whatever they hunt, so in the evening they will have a barbecue of whatever they hunted in the morning,” he added.
“They can just relax and enjoy time away from civilization and the stress of work just practicing their hobby.”
