OMG I cannot grasp how despicable this actually is - that beautiful child robbed of her rights as a human being. How can this still happen in the 21st century? Devastating.

Why has the website shown the photo of the girl. If this is not the one who died it is even worse. Unethical.

"Why has the website shown the photo of the girl. If this is not the one who died it is even worse. Unethical."

Out of this entire story, that's the part you find unethical. You've got your priorities back to front mate.

I'm truly just sad for a little girl of 8yrs to have to go through such a horrific ordeal, no human being should have to endure

This has nothing to do with Islam, fyi in our religion, our prophet did marry Aisyah at a young age but it was to protect her from the evil men or Arab. It was dangerous back then for a young girl to be alone and unprotected. They never slept in the same room until she turned 18. She was never touched or harm, in fact she fell deeply in love with our prophet and was by his side when he passed away. By that time she was already a grown woman and have become a good wife.

Anonymous (not verified) Mon, 06/02/2014 - 16:24

Not true, don't make things up for the sake of defending your religion. First of all, in the Quran the age of Aisyah is never mentioned in regards to when Mohammed slept with her for the first time. It was when she first got her period which is well below the age of 18. I'm sick and tired of Muslims making things up and expecting us to believe the million different interpretations of your Quran. The Muslim culture is one of oppression against women; and before you say anything ignorant keep in mind I said CULTURE, which is socially constructed. Its a fact and I've been in the Middle East long enough to know that Muslims there do not treat women or young girls with the respect they deserve.

A female should marry and have sex when she chooses to, NOT when your society decides that she is "mature enough" to.

Anonymous (not verified) Fri, 06/27/2014 - 14:32

A young woman begins a minstrel cycle at around 12 years old. Many begin sexual activity at that time around the world on their own. She is designed by God to have sex and children but not before then. Surely the world can agree that 12 would be a minimum age to begin marriage! Muhammad married a 6 year old. It is said he waited until she was 9 to start having sex. It all seems sick to those who have children because we view them differently in modern times but I don't have a problem with marriage as long as they are fully developed physically at least.

Anonymous (not verified) Mon, 06/02/2014 - 14:05

Did you really just say MINSTREL? do you even know what minstrel means? the word youre looking for is MENSTRUAL

cam (not verified) Sun, 06/08/2014 - 04:06

Yes, most girls start their cycle by age 12, but if you know anything about the developing body you know that it is not really ready to have children until several years later. Yes, a young girl can get pregnant, but it is not healthy for her or for the child. The long term health problems are huge. And while some might be sexually active at that age, it is usually not until 15 or 16 that that happens. While I do not promote 16 year olds marrying and having babies, I definitely DO NOT think anyone younger, or
ANYONE AT ALL, should be forced to marry.

Anonymous (not verified) Sat, 06/07/2014 - 22:01

back in the days, when women couldn't obtain an education, get a job, sustain a life - marriage was more of the norm, because they needed a man to survive because they were the only ones in society that worked and earned $. however, in most industrialized societies - which is part of this world - women don't need to marry a man anymore - unless they choose to do so due to religious practice, or familial pressures. even having a child, women don't need to have sex with a man - they just need $ and can adopt or get it via test-tube and donated sperm. the days of marriage and needing a man for security and lifestyle, for many women in the world who are part of these modern industrialized societies, is becoming a thing of the past. on a side note - it is not a minstrel cycle - it is a menstrual cycle and the age you list for it to begin is merely an average - all females are different and it can actually in a more realistic perspective - start before or after that age.

Tina Colliton (not verified) Sat, 06/07/2014 - 14:25

12? You think 12 is old enough for marriage?

You speak of god yet you think 12 is a good age to marry a girl off, what kind of god do you believe in?

What of the boys? Surely they can marry at 12 too right? Why not allow two 12 year olds to marry, I am sure they each have the maturity to handle such a commitment.

Anonymous (not verified) Sat, 06/07/2014 - 00:59

I got my menstrual when I was nearly 16, my daughter did the same...your implying rule that 12 is a ripe old age to start having sex is warped and seriously wrong!!! beside, do you really think that a 12 yo will be in any culture or religion happy to marry a 40yo?? try to think how you'd feel if you were 12 and were married to a 40 yo woman (I can only assume you are a male)

For all those who are thinking oh Americans you guys don't know a thing and you guys have the same issue. Because of that they should not report what is going on world widely? We should be all aware of this problems. And for all people who believe that this is Islam I will have to tell you that Mohammed s.a.v.s ( prophet) was preaching against this. And he and Q'uran strictly forbid this. My heart is in pain because we as a world are not able to help?! How is it possible that we let this? ???? People blame religion but I blame people and ignorance!!!! THIS IS NOT ISLAM OR HUMAN LIKE ! btw, I'm writing from Europe so pardon my grammar errors :)

Anonymous (not verified) Mon, 06/02/2014 - 12:03

Absolutely disgusting!!! Un Islamic??? Are you efffing kidding me!! Beyond SICK!!!

Anonymous (not verified) Mon, 06/02/2014 - 07:51

Muslim men make me sick. I wish they'd all die.

Anonymous (not verified) Mon, 06/02/2014 - 07:34

Any grown man who sleeps with a child should be executed. This is sick and disgusting. The people who gave her to him to marry at 8 and him for following through with it. Disgusting.

Anonymous (not verified) Mon, 06/02/2014 - 03:27

And we give financial support to these countries ?!?!?!? are you kidding me ?!?!?!? ....support Islam ??????? i don't get it ...........................bomb them back to the stone age ..oh wait they're in the stone age ....maybee take thier country over and indoctrinate them to living in the 21st century

Anonymous (not verified) Sun, 06/01/2014 - 23:57

This has nothing to do with Islam. Islam does not condone such behaviour. I am a Muslim and I find this sickening. All around the world girls are getting pregnant at the ages of 14, 15, 16.... this is not acceptable for people of any religion or belief. Maybe you should be more careful with what you say and not make generalisations about something you clearly know nothing about.

8 year olds die every in every country every day due to poor life conditions, murder, starvation, health, abandonment, shootings, war, old land mines, abusers, repast, and just plain old bad luck. EVERY DAY EVERY HOUR, especially in the U.S

Yes this sucks. But the bigger issue IS why it was allowed to happened, not that a kid died. so instead of yelling at people who post political comments and saying "OMG a kid died and all you are worried about is......" isn't helping the situation or the world and is honestly a waist of a comment. Fell angry and said, but act smart! progress the world don't just yell.

and side note this honestly might not have even happened, it is the internet, people lie to get their point across, true it could, but i find no real credible source to say the whole story is true.

Anonymous (not verified) Sun, 06/01/2014 - 23:55

Your propaganda is a complete LIE. 8 year olds do not die "every day" in America because of poor conditions. The biggest problem our poor have is OBESITY - not starvation. Get your facts straight.

Anonymous (not verified) Mon, 06/02/2014 - 14:02

are you actually trying to find some twisted justification for this ?!

Anonymous (not verified) Mon, 06/02/2014 - 09:22

Here is an idea who about the UN put more energy into dealing with countries that are allowing this to happen then telling Australian families how to discipline their child. Education is a key factor here. when are we going to get Islamic clerics to start realizing how wrong this is. let kids be kids.
