Emirates Gas (EMGAS), a wholly owned subsidiary of ENOC, the Dubai government-owned diversified energy group, conducted a safety training programme for students in Grades 9, to 12 from the Institute of Applied Technology (IAT) recently.
Ali Al Hammadi, the Quality Coordinator of EMGAS, provided the students with an overview of Emirates Gas products, services, basic composition and sources of LPG, the basic physical and chemical properties, and about the various applications. He also demonstrated the installation of LPG cylinders, valves and regulators, and the basics of the fire triangle and safe ways of handling LPG.
Hesham Ali Mustafa, Senior Director of Gas Marketing at ENOC said that training students is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility ethos to increase awareness among the younger generation about LPG and enhance their knowledge base.
“We are committed to help develop the skills of the UAE’s future generation. Through the training, we aim to make IAT students familiar with LPG safety and the proper procedures in handling, storage and usage of cylinders.”
Emirates Gas has provided similar training programmes for students from a number of schools including Al Ahlia School, Sumaya Bint Al Khayat Ajman Secondary School and Muzaira School. The company has also partnered with UAE University in Al Ain to strengthen research and development on LPG-related products.
