Algeria: President Bouteflika runs for third term

algeria president Abdelaziz BouteflikaAbdelaziz Bouteflika, President of Algeria, officially announced on Thursday in Algiers his candidacy for presidential election which will be held on 9 April. The announcement was made during a popular meeting organized at Mohamed-Boudiaf Olympic Complex Dome, in presence of nearly 5,000 people.

 

Talking about the reasons why he stands for a third presidential term, in his capacity of "independent candidate," Bouteflika mentioned the continuation of the implementation of his programme, notably the national reconciliation. According to APS, he affirmed his will to pursue reform programmes he initiated and take all the measures to eliminate the obstacles hindering its implementation.

 

During the event, Bouteflika pointed out that the national development effort will be pursued to reach a better level in spite of the international economic crisis. Moreover, he insisted on the continuation of investments encouragement policy.
