Car chase in Dallas ends in horrific crash
Posted: 30-06-2009 , 08:39 GMT

A wild police car chase through a Dallas suburb ended in a violent “T-Bone” crash yesterday.  The suspect, Shane William Michel is believed to have felony warrants in Garland, Texas due to forgery charges.

After over 90 minutes of being chased by police cars and one helicopter, Michel ran a red light in his grey Nissan and was hit hard by a red pickup truck.  The Dallas County Constables said Michel was a danger to society and needed to be taken off the streets.

They had more than a half dozen police units chasing Michel, but could not stop him until the crash.  Lance Anderson, the driver of the pickup truck accused police of not acting sooner, saying, “they should not have chased him for two hours, risking everybody’s lives like they did… the only time I heard sirens was after I hit him.”

How much money is wasted and how many lives are endangered with these chases. Zap it with something they can GPS track and let him go. Sooner or later he would have stopped, and then they could pounce.

The police had opportunity to stop the felon on the ramp by the construction. They were negligent in not doing so.
