Another sign of warming relations: Mubarak meets Iranian Speaker
Posted: 30-01-2008 , 14:12 GMT

mubarak Haddad-AdelIran's Parliament Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel on Wednesday termed his meeting with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak as "very positive". The Iranian Speaker of parliament met with President Mubarak on Wednesday morning.

Following the talks, he told reporters, "My current visit to Egypt is an indication of improvement of Iran-Egypt ties."

The Egyptian president announced that he would accept no pressure from the US to cut relations with Iran, Haddad-Adel said, adding that his positions are only in line with the Egyptian interests.

The Iranian speaker and his entourage arrived in Cairo Tuesday to attend a biennial inter-parliamentary meeting of the Islamic countries, IRNA reported.

It should be noted that the two countries have not had full diplomatic ties since the Iranian Islamic revolution in 1979. However, Wednesday's meeting follows a recent thaw in relations, including a landmark phone cconversation between president Mubarak and his Iranian peer Mahmoud Ahmadinejad last week.

I think Muslim countries need to open up for one another regardless of Israel being happy or not. Muslim countries have to cooperate in- trade, technology, education, adoption of democracy and so on. Their bond should be not taken as a threat to the western world and Muslims countries must talk it out. I think the zionists are partly behind the obsraction of Mulims countries international relations. I think jelousy, manipulation and selfishness are the major contributing factors. I think the Zionists believe they still can use war and bloodshed among Muslim countries as they might be pretty much doing so among various religion fractions for the time being.
