Airport to be built on Iraq-Jordan border

The administration of the free trade zone on the Jordanian-Iraqi border decided to build an airport in order to transport and export goods to all over the world. In this relation, the manger of the zone, Hani Alkayid, said that the airport, which will be built by foreign countries at a cost of US$70 million will play an important role in transporting goods from the zone.


Alkayid has revealed to Alsharq Alawsat newspaper that the construction works of the airport will begin next June. He also disclosed that the first stage of the free trade zone was completed with investments totaling US$140 million.


He said that the zone, which is about 6,000 square meters, will be completed in three stages. The official opening will take place in the 21st of March.
