Posted: 02-03-2005 , 14:16 GMT

Iraqi electricity minister Ayham Alsamerai has asked Syria to provide electricity to some Iraqi areas. He did not rule out the participation of Syrian companies in electricity projects in Iraq, according to Alitijahalakhar newspaper.

Alsamerai, during his visit to Syria, discussed with Syrian electricity minister Moneib Sa’eem the possibility of expediting the implementation of the project to connect the Syrian province of Deir Alzarazer with Alqaem area in Iraq.
The Syrian Iraqi electricity cooperation goes back to 2004, when the two sides signed agreements in this sphere.

Syrian companies may participate in the implementation of some electrical projects in Iraq because of their proximity to Iraq, and its experience in such projects.
