Iraq, UNIDO work together to promote industrial sector

The Iraqi Industry and Minerals ministry reported that a total of 1.022 million tons of cement were produced during the last 6 months by the factories located all across Iraq. This quantity helped the reconstruction process, the ministry said in a recent report issued by the ministry.

 

The report clarified that the ministry has prepared studies to construct two industrial complexes for the private sector. The report added, according to <i>Daralhayat</i> newspaper, that the ministry, with the cooperation of UNIDO, will cover all needed to improve production capacity of major industrial units. The costs of such a project will hit US$9.7 million.

 

In addition, US$3 million will be directed for a program to promote investments and development of small and medium units.
