Minister: Plan to transform Iraq into a free economy

Dr. Hajim Alhuseini, the Iraqi minister of industry and minerals, announced the start of the implementation of a plan to transit the Iraqi economy to a free market economy. This is expected to be done in a gradual way for the benefit both the country and the people.

In an interview with <i>Alkhaleen</i> newspaper, Dr. Alhuseini conveyed that one of the most important parts of this plan is to strengthen the private sector and preparing it for competition. It also including the rehabilitation of the public sector.

In a related issue, Dr. Alhuseini revealed that the ministry has launched a study to establish a new tax system.
