Bid to establish oil refinery in southern Iraq

According to <i>Al-Ahali</i> newspaper, a senior source at the Iraqi Ministry of Oil revealed that the ministry is currently conducting negotiations with representatives of ten international companies to establish a big oil refinery in Al-Masib area, southern Iraq. This refinery, which execution will last 2.5 years, will produce 300,000 barrels based on the international standards. The same source added that the competitor companies are from the USA, China, Italy, the UK, Czech Republic and Canada. He added that the current negotiations are related to basic principles of the project, financing conditions and investments.
