Iraq: Three Kurds die as PM holds talks in Jordan

peshmergaA roadside bomb attack killed three security personnel from the Kurdish peshmerga forces deployed in the Diyala province of Iraq, a security official told AFP on Thursday. The attack took place in the town of Jalawla in Diyala late Wednesday, the security official from the peshmerga forces said. Five others were seriously wounded in the attack, he added.

 

Meanwhile, Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki arrived in Amman Thursday for a two-day official visit and talks with Jordanian leaders on means of boosting ties, officials said. Upon his arrival, Al-Maliki said he expected his visit to have "a profound impact on cooperation and coordination between the two countries."

 

Jordanian Prime Minister Nader Dahabi, who welcomed his Iraqi counterpart at the airport, said Jordan was "keen to extend all possible assistance" to Iraq to hep it overcome its present situation, DPA reported.
