Posted: 11-08-2009 , 13:39 GMT

south sinai mapThe Israeli National Security Department in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) issued a warning Tuesday, advising Israelis to immediately leave and refrain from traveling to Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, Kenya, Sudan, Colombia, Iraq and Yemen.

The PMO’ counterterrorism unit warned of planned attacks during the upcoming Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah on September 18. It also warned of kidnapping threats against Israeli businessmen working in Arab and Islamic countries.

It advised those who can postpone trips to do so and cautioned traveling to Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula where the threat level is considerably higher than the rest of Egypt. It also said that stopovers in Amman’s airport were safe.

In addition, the message warned Israelis to remain cautious at all times, alter routines during long-term trips and avoid unplanned meetings.
