The planner for the “Al Quds Festival 2008” (Jerusalem Festival 2008), starting this week, said that the famous Lebanese singer Majida Al Roomi will sing on the opening night from Beirut via satellite. majida

The connection will be done through Al Jazirah satellite channel under the title “Tahyeh Min Beirut Ela Al Quds” (Salute From Beirut To Jerusalem). The festival will last for nine nights and it will be called “Arabic Music.”

Zahi Khouri, who is part of the Palestinian company “Yabous Art Production” that is planning the music celebration in Jerusalem, said that this is not the first time that Majida has worked with the company to support their cause.

Majida also inspired the Lebanese people through her famous speech “Bikafi” (That’s Enough).  Zahi hopes that she will gather Lebanese citizens and Palestinians through their similar history at the opening night of the musical festival.

The festival is sponsored by many local and foreign associations. There will be Palestinian groups participating from Ramallah, Bethlehem and Nazareth. There will also be artists from France, Greece and Italy performing at the festival.
