Posted: 14-04-2007 , 11:05 GMT

Moroccain-policemanTwo suicide bombers blew themselves up in the middle of a street in Morocco's largest city of Casablanca on Saturday, killing themselves and injuring a woman, an Interior Ministry official said.

The bombers killed themselves on a boulevard that runs behind an American cultural center, the official said, according to the AP. The American Consulate and a synagogue are also both in the neighborhood.

The bombers were not being pursued by police, said the official. Morocco's official news agency, MAP, said the bombers blew themselves up near a bank on Moulay Youssef Avenue. MAP added the bystander suffered light injuries.

On Tuesday, three suicide bombers also blew themselves up in the city. A police sniper shot and killed a fourth man who authorities said appeared to be preparing to detonate explosives.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Embassy warned of possible new attacks in the Algerian capital on Saturday. In a statement, it said new attacks could strike near the Algiers central post office and the ENTV national television headquarters.
