palestinian funeralAn Israeli air strike targeted a minivan in Gaza City Friday evening, killing at least two Hamas activists and wounding more than 10 others, and bringing to eight the day's death toll in Israeli strikes on Gaza.

Also Friday, Hamas reported the death of another of its members in Israeli strikes.

Five Hamas fighters were killed in an Israeli air strike overnight. In the early hours of Friday, a Hamas base near the Gaza Strip's eastern border with Israel was hit by what local officials said appeared to be at least one missile from an F-16 jet. According to Reuters, an Israeli army official confirmed the strike, saying the target was used by Hamas as a meeting place to carry out attacks against Israel.

More than 50 rockets fired from Gaza have hit Israeli territory in recent days, wounding six civilians and driving hundreds of people from the town of Sderot.
